I began
studying the Feldenkrais Method® in 1987 as a professional
dancer because it helped me so much with both the technical and
artistic aspects of dance, as well as preventing recurrent back spasms.
In 1993 I became a Guild Certified Feldenkrais Practitioner (cm), and
have been teaching group classes and private lessons in the Feldenkrais
Method ever since. My clients have included the New York Times, Time
Warner, Bristol Myers, the Peninsula Spa, Lord & Taylor, the 63rd St. YMCA,
and the Feldenkrais Learning Center. I also maintain a private
practive in Manhattan and Brooklyn in which I work with a wide variety
of clients including: |
1) Performing
artists: I specialize in working with dancers,
actors,
musicians, and visual artists to help them learn how subtle
shifts in
the ways they move can dramatically enhance their performing
and
technical skills and increase their longevity. The effect after
a few
lessons is often dramatic.
2) Chronic debilitating
illnesses: People suffering from a variety
of
chronic pain syndromes including fibromyalgia, multiple sclerosis,
sarcoidosis and chronic fatigue syndrome often find relief through
the
Feldenkrais Method from debilitating pain, and regain a significant
measure of ease, and effectiveness in their daily lives.
3) Stress
and injury-related pain: Common discomforts
and limitations
such as back pain, shoulder or neck stiffness, joint discomfort
and
generalized tension caused by poor posture, stress, long hours
at
computers, a sedentary lifestyle, or old injuries can often
be
eliminated or significantly reduced easily and quickly through
the
Feldenkrais Method. We are often unaware of
how much low level chronic discomfort unnecessarily diminishes
the pleasure we take in everyday life.
The chances are that you are looking into the Feldenkrais
Method because you fall into one of these three categories. If so, I invite
you to read the Client
Testimonials and the page on What
to Expect from Feldenkrais, and then to call me to talk for a few minutes
about
your particular situation. We’ll examine the problem, talk
about
solutions, and see if I can help.
Sincerely,
Sharon
